Restaurant incident SOP: protect people, preserve facts and assign follow-up

Trigger

Use for injury, illness allegation, contamination concern, security event, utility failure, fire, severe equipment failure or other defined incident.

Accountable role

Shift lead initiates the response; the venue names specialized safety, security or management owners.

Procedure

  1. Protect people and contact emergency services when the situation requires it.
  2. Stop, isolate or secure the affected activity without creating additional risk.
  3. Notify the designated manager and required internal owner.
  4. Record observable facts, time, location, people notified and immediate action.
  5. Assign investigation, required reporting, corrective action and reopen decision.
